Finding the right way to thank your employees can be difficult, but through ABC’s Workforce Development Awards, we’re giving you the opportunity to showcase their talent, hard work and dedication to the construction industry. Project registration is now open for ABC’s 25th Annual National Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards and this year it’s easier than ever to show off the projects you’re most proud of. The EIC awards honor innovative and high-quality merit shop construction projects and safety programs, and walking away a winner will set your company apart from the competition.

TheÌýGreen Building Initiative (GBI) announced June 4 that ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓNational’s headquarters office in Washington, D.C. is one of the first buildings to be certified under its new Green Globes for Sustainable Interiors (SI) program.

STEP Platinum and Diamond recipients that would like to participate in the 2014 Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) awards must submit their applications to ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓby July 7.

Each year, many ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓmember companies make the list of Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) Top 400 Contractors list. In 2014, 55 ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓmembers were placed in the top 100 contractors on the list.

The 2014 Craft Professional of the Year award was presented to Robert Stuart, superintendent at Stronghold Engineering in Menifee, Calif., May 2 during ABC’s National Craft Championships and Workforce Development Conference in Birmingham, Ala. The award recognizes Stuart’s work in the industry including his commitment to safety, training and the merit shop philosophy.

ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓMay 2 recognized the winners in its 2014 National Craft Championships competition, held at the association’s 21st Century Workforce Development Conference, April 29 – May 2, in Birmingham, Ala.Ìý

The ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓstudent chapter at Montgomery College, Rockville, Md., was named the 2014 Student Chapter of the Year, which recognized them for their outstanding and extensive programming, community service and involvement with ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓduring the past year. The student chapter will be honored at the Careers in Construction Awards ceremony May 2 in Birmingham, Ala.

ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓawarded Lloyd Evans, hiring and training administrator for Watson Electrical Construction Co. LLC, Wilson, N.C., as its 2014 Craft Instructor of the Year. Evans will be honored during ABC’s Workforce Development Conference May 2 in Birmingham, Ala.

More than 800 attendees participated in Merit Week Feb. 11-12 in Maui, Hawaii, where they took advantage of learning and networking at ABC’s BizCon and Merit Canada’s International Open Shop Conference, and celebrated the achievements of the winners during the Excellence in Construction Awards.
