Interstates Companies, Sioux Center, Iowa, was named Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) 2013 Contractor of the Year during the 24th annual Excellence in Construction Awards ceremony, which was held Feb. 11 in Maui, Hawaii. 

Interstates Companies won the award—which recognizes an exceptional individual or company in the construction industry—because of its leadership in training, behavior-based safety, prefabrication and lean processes, as well as its commitment to ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓand the merit shop philosophy.

Marking its 60th year of business in 2013, Interstates began as a small electrical company in 1953 that was founded on the core values of dependability, integrity, trust, quality and family.
