The ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓVirginia Chapter has started implementing a competency-based component for their registered apprenticeship program. The chapter has already started to develop tasks for their electrical, HVAC and plumbing apprenticeship programs. The intent of the competency-based approach is to ensure apprentices receive experience in all facets of their craft, increase the speed of skill acquisition and enhance overall field performance. This innovative addition to ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓVirginia’s apprenticeship program is expected to be implemented in August 2020.
