The ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓKeystone, Eastern Pennsylvania, Western Pennsylvania and Cumberland Valley chapters recently signed a statewide letter of agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections to help formerly incarcerated citizens kickstart a career in construction.
The agreement, the first of its kind in the commonwealth to cover all Pennsylvania counties, provides re-entering citizens with access to the registered apprenticeship programs offered through the four ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓchapters. State correctional institutions in Pennsylvania utilize the NCCER curriculum in multiple construction trades, making the partnership a natural extension of the education received while incarcerated. The agreement also calls on ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓchapters to promote the benefits of hiring individuals who are re-entering the workforce and attend job fairs, when feasible.
Contact your local ÀÏÅ£Ó°ÊÓchapter in Pennsylvania for additional information on this initiative.
