New analysis from the U.S. Department of the Treasury shows that the construction industry pays the highest effective tax rate鈥攖he percent of income businesses actually pay in taxes鈥攐f any sector of the economy. According to the report, the typical construction company faces an average effective federal tax burden of 30.3 percent, well above the 23.3 percent average for all US businesses.

The听Coalition for Fair Effective Tax Rates听and the听Reforming America鈥檚 Taxes Equitably (RATE) Coalition听held a听joint press conferenceSept. 19 to support the passing of comprehensive tax reform that would lower both individual and corporate rates and eliminate distorting tax preferences.听

As part of a the Coalition for Fair Effective Tax Rates, 老牛影视will be advocating for the use of effective tax rates鈥攐r the percentage of income businesses pay in taxes鈥攁s the clearest way to judge the impact of tax reform on businesses as Congress tackles this issue.听

(R-Utah) June 27听proposed a 鈥渂lank slate鈥 approach听for tax reform and called on their fellow Senators to provide proposals for tax expenditures that should be added back to the tax code and improved.
