The U.S. Senate July 25 voted 51 to 48 to pass the Middle Class Tax Cut Act of 2012 (S. 3412), which, if enacted, would result in a massive tax increase on business income, capital investment and family succession. In addition, the Senate voted 45 to 54 against theABC-supported听Hatch-McConnell Amendment to S. 3412 that would have forestalled the looming fiscal cliff facing America鈥檚 job creators.听

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) recently announced a decision not to mandate project labor agreements (PLAs) on billions of dollars worth of construction projects on Guam. NAVFAC, which is responsible for all Guam military construction contract administration for the Department of Defense (DOD), reached this decision after soliciting feedback from the construction industry, including ABC, on the potential use of PLA mandates. 听听
The merit shop construction industry won a victory on March 29 when a federal court of appeals in Georgia upheld a jury verdict that awarded Fidelity Interior Construction, Suwanee, Ga., with $1.7 million against the Carpenters鈥 union. The jury found that the Carpenters conducted an illegal 鈥渁rea standards鈥 campaign that included bannering, picketing and handbilling at buildings where Fidelity was, had or might be working.听
