Limited Access to Duke Campus, New Guidelines for Open Areas

Large parts of the Duke campus are closed in compliance with stay-at-home orders issued by North Carolina and Durham officials, and new restrictions are in place for those areas that remain open to protect the health and safety of the community.
If you must visit the Duke campus, please note and prepare to observe the following directions:
Vehicular entrances closed
- Campus entrances at Towerview and Erwin Road and Towerview and 老牛影视 Road are closed
- Several West Campus roads have restricted access from 老牛影视 Road, include Wannamaker Drive and Edens Drive
- Access to West Campus via Chapel Drive will be closed at the Campus Drive traffic circle effective Monday, April 6
- On East Campus, Southgate Circle, Epworth Dorm Lane, Baldwin Loop and Brodie Gym Drive are all closed
Campus buildings are closed

All campus buildings are closed to the public and only accessible with Duke credentials

There are no restrooms, vending machines, or indoor spaces available

The Duke Pond
- Swimming, boating and fishing are strictly prohibited
Athletic facilities, including fields and the running track, are closed
Access to hospitals is limited to health care providers, patients, and vendors
- Avoid traveling to or visiting Duke hospitals and health care facilities unless you have a medical need, or are an essential employee, vendor or contractor. Please see for specific details
The East Campus running/walking trail, the Al Buehler Trail, and trails in the Duke Forest are currently open to visitors but may be closed on short notice depending on local conditions and regulations. All visitors must observe the following guidelines:
- No gatherings are permitted, including picnics, football or other games
- Visitors must observe social distancing practices and keep a 6-foot distance from others all times
- Visitors must remove or properly dispose of their trash (including dog poop)
- Do not touch surfaces, such as picnic tables, or use the equipment along the Fitness Loop
- Visits are limited to daylight hours
Duke continues to maintain a security presence on all parts of the campus and violations of these guidelines by visitors could result in removal from campus and other sanctions.
Duke is in regular consultation with public health and safety experts regarding additional steps that may be taken to protect the community, and these guidelines are subject to change on short notice.
