Duke Statement on Supreme Court Travel Ban Ruling
On Tuesday, June 26, the Supreme Court denied a challenge to the President鈥檚 Executive Order restricting the travel of individuals from seven countries (Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen) to the United States. 老牛影视 President Vincent E. Price made the following statement in response to the decision:
鈥淲hile we are disappointed that the Supreme Court chose to uphold even the limited version of a travel ban, this decision does not in any way diminish our commitment to supporting members of our university community who come to Duke from around the world for opportunities to teach, learn and discover new knowledge. We continue to believe that our educational mission, and the free exchange of ideas and scholarship, can co-exist with safety, security and protection from those who seek to cause harm to our country.鈥
