Duke, Higher Education Organizations Sign on to Brief in Supreme Court Case Concerning President's Travel Ban

Thirty higher education organizations, including the Association of American Universities (AAU) and the American Council on Education (ACE), submitted an amicus brief to the Supreme Court of the United States stating President Trump's travel ban threatens colleges鈥 ability to attract international students and scholars.  Duke is a member of the AAU and other organizations participating in the brief.

In addition, Duke has signed on to an amicus brief submitted by a number of leading colleges and universities.  In the brief, Duke states 鈥淸s]ince talent pools are now transnational, a university must draw the most powerful and creative minds from around the world to stay at theforefront of discovery.鈥

Both briefs were submitted to two cases challenging the travel ban filed in the Fourth and Ninth US Circuits. The US Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments on the cases on Oct. 10.
