Jones taught in the Department of English for 50 years. He specialized in 18th and 19th century American Literature, particularly the works of Hawthorne, Melville, Poe, Emerson, and Thoreau.     A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham.
