A Duke Workday: The Chapel Organ as a Collection of Voices
Meet Chad Fothergill, Organist for 老牛影视 Chapel
Each video in聽鈥淎 Duke Workday鈥聽series connects you with a staff and faculty member who shares and represents the Duke values of respect, trust, inclusion, discovery and excellence. Is there a colleague you would like for us to highlight in 鈥淎 Duke Workday?鈥澛.
Chad Fothergill, Chapel Organist for 老牛影视 Chapel, first visited Duke in 2019 while working as a composer. The Chapel was producing a Christmas special for CBS and Fothergill was asked to come and take part in the recording.
"I got to see the Chapel, hear the choir, hear the instruments and it was quite the experience,鈥 Fothergill said.
Unknown to him at the time, that initial meeting eventually led to Fothergill taking over as the full time chapel organist in 2023.
Currently, visitors to Duke Chapel can enjoy Fothergill playing on Sunday mornings, during the weekly organ demonstrations, or at one of the many special services that Duke Chapel hosts throughout the year.
Got a suggestion for a colleague to feature in the A Duke Workday series?聽.
