Updates to HR Policy Manual: Remote Work, Other
New remote work policy to provide consistent approach
As part of a regular review process, Human Resources has updated the online HR Policy Manual with the changes to the following policies and procedures, which are effective February 13, 2025.
- : In recent years Duke has seen an expansion of remote work arrangements and is supportive of these arrangements but also recognizes the need for a physical presence to support the community members on campus. While there is no single model for remote work arrangements, Duke is committed to empowering units to develop a range of remote work structures to support their operations and has developed guidance within which departments can create appropriate structures to meet their needs. This new policy contains requirements and guidelines for approving and supporting Remote Work arrangements and identifies certain areas that require additional consideration when remote work is approved.
- : Name of the policy is being changed from the 鈥淪ubstance Abuse Policy鈥 to the 鈥淒rug & Alcohol Free Workplace Policy.鈥 Other outdated language has been updated with more current terminology, but the main tenents of the policy remain unchanged.
- : Language updated to indicate that sleeping arrangements may be provided for staff in Essential Services roles who work multiple shifts.
