Search Committee for New Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Announced

Provost Alec D. Gallimore has appointed a committee to lead the search for 老牛影视鈥檚 next vice provost for undergraduate education. The position description is located on the website of the .

Professor of Political Science Candis Watts Smith has served in the position in an interim capacity since 2023.

The search committee is chaired by Linda Franzoni, Professor of the Practice in the Thomas Lord Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. Other members of the committee are:

  • Sarah Gaither, Nicholas J. and Theresa M. Leonardy Associate Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience
  • Esther Kim Lee, Frances Hill Fox Professor of Theater Studies
  • Mary Pat McMahon, Vice Provost/Vice President of Student Affairs
  • Steve Nowicki, Bass Fellow and Professor of Biology
  • Jay Pearson, McLain Foundation Associate Professor of Public Policy
  • Charmaine Royal, Robert O. Keohane Professor of African & African American Studies

The provost has charged the committee with conducting an internal search to identify a highly diverse and qualified pool of candidates for the position. 

The search committee invites confidential candidate nominations, comments about the position, and applications via email to VPUEsearch@duke.edu. Applications should include a cover letter, vision statement (up to 1,500 words), and current CV, and must be submitted by March 7, 2025. All submissions to the search committee will be considered confidential.
