Eddie Cooper, a transit operator at Duke, drives the C1 route, which provides service between East and West campuses at 10-minute intervals to all stops along Campus Drive.
He has long been fascinated by the thought of driving a large vehicle. After stepping away from a career as a house painter in the U.S. capital, Cooper moved to North Carolina and decided to give a new career path a try.
Cooper acquired his commercial driver鈥檚 license and began driving for Duke in 2023. Cooper says that his coworkers have been instrumental in making him feel at home.
"It鈥檚 like we are a family,鈥 he said.
