John Noonan to Retire as VP of Facilities in May 2025

John Noonan, Vice President, Facilities, will retire in May 2025 after nearly 20 years of service to 老牛影视.
鈥淛ohn is a very thoughtful person and leader,鈥 said Daniel G. Ennis, Executive Vice President. 鈥淭he university is stronger for his many contributions in this critical leadership role. John goes about his work quietly and has been highly effective over time in supporting academic leadership鈥檚 commitment to facilities growth and modernization, as well as significant physical enhancements to Duke鈥檚 campus.鈥
joined Duke as Associate Vice President for Facilities in 2005 and was promoted to Vice President, Facilities in 2011. He has oversight for a workforce of approximately 600 staff, an operating budget of $179 million, and a five-year capital plan of approximately $1 billion. Noonan and his team lead numerous operations for the university and areas of the health system, including capital project planning and coordination of design, renewal, and construction, as well as operations and maintenance for facilities, landscape, utilities and engineering, and environmental services.
During Noonan鈥檚 tenure, he and his team have managed projects to repair, restore or renovate many campus landmarks such as Duke Chapel, the Broadhead Center, Baldwin Auditorium, East Campus Steam Plant, and Wallace Wade Stadium.

Another highlight of his leadership has been the transformation of the University鈥檚 energy infrastructure in support of Duke鈥檚 clinical, research and teaching missions. This effort was carefully developed and implemented with the University鈥檚 commitment to carbon neutrality as a central focus.
