Enjoy the American Dance Festival at a Discount

Duke staff and faculty can save 20% on tickets to world-class modern dance performances

Milo Fryling, a Senior Analyst Programmer for Duke Radiology鈥檚 Research Division, has been attending American Dance Festival performances and events since 2008, creating lasting memories with each passing year.

He remembers joining his wife Pamela in an African dance workshop in the Ark on East Campus, moving to the rhythm of a corps of drummers.

He also recalls seeing influential dancer, artist and former MacArthur Fellow Shen Wei perform a stirring solo and, in a different year, soaking in a joyous and mischievous performance by the troupe of Rosie Herrera which featured dancers sprayed with garden hoses and hams being lowered from above.

鈥淚t鈥檚 really amazing that we have this in Durham,鈥 said Fryling, who over the years has seen performances from groups hailing from Argentina, Brazil, China, Israel and the Netherlands. 鈥淲e are the home of this gigantic festival that happens every year.鈥

The 2024 season of the , which runs until October 13, features a diverse lineup of 49 performances from 24 companies and choreographers, including 11 world premieres.

The festival features performances in Duke venues such as Page Auditorium, Reynolds Industries Theater and the von der Heyden Studio Theater, as well as The Fruit in downtown Durham.
