Applications for undergraduate admission have increased substantially over the past five years; Guttentag and his team now review more than 49,000 applications each year. During the same period Guttentag has successfully implemented efforts to increase socioeconomic diversity within the undergraduate student body, and led the Office of Undergraduate Admissions through a number of adjustments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the university’s current test-optional policy approach to standardized testing.
