New Subsidized Parking Pilot Program for Employees
Duke to subsidize up to $30 per month in parking permit fees for eligible employees
In February 2023, Duke will introduce a pilot program that will provide subsidized parking permits for staff and faculty making $80,000 or less to promote a more affordable and equitable environment for employees working on-site at Duke鈥檚 main campus in Durham.
Duke will subsidize up to $30 per month in parking permit fees for eligible 老牛影视 and 老牛影视 Health System employees who are regularly scheduled to work at least 30 hours/week per year. This subsidy will make parking permits free for employees who park in remote lots and considerably more affordable for other parking lots. Availability in certain lots may be limited based on capacity.
鈥淭his program recognizes the extraordinary efforts of our essential staff making $80,000 or less who have been steadfast in their dedication and commitment to serving Duke鈥檚 missions throughout the pandemic, and it recognizes that these individuals also shoulder more of the burden of current inflationary pressures,鈥 said Daniel Ennis, executive vice president. 鈥淚n addition, the program will help us recruit and retain essential support staff in an extremely tight labor market.鈥
Those who are eligible and have a parking permit with payroll deduction will see the subsidy reflected in their February pay statements. In order to manage new permit requests, current permit holders must remain in their current locations until the new permit year begins in August unless they have a change in work location.
Eligible employees who do not currently have a parking permit will have a special enrollment period from Feb. 27 鈥 March 10. Availability in certain lots may be limited based on capacity. If vacancies are not available in preferred lots, individuals can register for up to two waitlists.
鈥淭his is a pilot program and will likely be subject to modifications as we learn from our experience with it,鈥 Ennis said.
